Saturday September 24th, 2011. Colloquium: Alkan: the Esquisses  

Venue: Millfields Road, London E5 0SB Following the success of our previous colloquia, we are now holding our fourth colloquium on the Esquisses Op.63. We meet at the home of John White and Margaret Coldiron, and Richard Murphy again leads the proceedings. We welcome all members (and their guests) to take part, playing, discussing or listening. Those who play are asked to prepare one or more of the following Esquisses: 6, 7, 10, 14, 16, 20, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 34, 36, 38, 42 & 44. Members may also play other Esquisses (or other works).  For further information contact the Society Secretary or the Society Treasurer.

Monday October 3, 2011.  Pierre Reach (piano) launches the Piano Extravaganza Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria, with performances of Alkan's Sonata 'Les quatre âges' op.33 and Liszt's transcription of Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique.
